Open call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Israel

Following the declaration on the Israel-Palestine conflict, Emmaus International decided to add its voice to those of the many international organisations and hundreds of thousands of people around the world who are calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages and an end to the blockade that is preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the area. This was also the stance expressed by the United Nations General Assembly on 27 October.

Regardless of our views on this conflict, there can be no justification for sacrificing innocent lives as we are currently witnessing. The war being waged by Israel and Hamas is nothing short of insanity. Innocent civilians have been and continue to be killed every day since 7 October. These are unjustifiable massacres, and the humanitarian consequences of this conflict are even more disastrous.

Faced with such a tragedy, our humanity is at stake. We have to say stop, we have to say it publicly and we have to call our politicians into question.

Emmaus International therefore invites all the groups in the Movement to sign this open call and encourage others to do so too.
